After beginning the sketch, I wanted to go ahead and place the background (this is the first time I have ever made this decision
I wanted the animal to be revealed in light, so I added black.
As you can see, I begin with white
And I draw a large portion of the body with white
now, I am going in with the black
at first, it may look unsettling
but eventually, it begins to come together
next thing you know…
you have a bird on your paper
but I still need to add details
so, I just keep going
drawing the tail feathers now
